To IPAD or not to IPAD is the question?????

IPAD it is! We have come to the decision that we would like an IPAD for Zane. His therapist has been using the IPAD with him during his sessions and he really seems to become alert and responsive to it. He love the bright colors and the sounds that come from it. One of his favorite apps is TOMCAT.

We did find out that he doesn't really care for Thomas the Train. He made that known after a bunch of whining went on. As soon as she turned it he was fine again. It's funny how these kids can show that they don't like something without any spoken words.

Today we put in for two different contests that are giving away free IPAD's to special needs children. Cross your fingers everyone and hope that Zane is a winner.

Meet the newest member of the Treguboff household. This is Gary! Yes, I know we name our dogs old man names but we can't resist. Gary is a 3 month old Pug. We have been looking for quite some time for a playmate for Hank. Hank and Gary seem to be getting along really well except I am realizing that Gary may be the alpha male. Hank is such a calm laid back kind of dog. We keep telling him not to let Gary walk all over him. He has yet to change that. :)

Zane had his first interview last Thursday to promote his fundraiser "Flip 4 Zane". So far his fundraiser participants have raised over $4000 dollars for his specialized therapy. It overwhelms me with emotions to know that so many care for my little guy. It brings us hope that possibly one day we may be able to get him to sit on his own. On the Paleo Wagon, again!

So my own personal paleo challenge has begun. It is time! I have gained 15 pounds over the holidays and my lack of exercise is starting to show. Yesterday was the first day and boy all I can is it is tough. I sooooooooo want a cookie really bad but I must say no.

Today is no better but as the days go on it will get easier. I am on day two and I have not had any processed sugar, dairy, or grains. All meat and veggies for the next two months. Hopefully after the two months I can keep my sugar wants away.

Cross your fingers everyone! This is going to be a long road!

We unfortunately had to remove our donation button off of our Smiles for Zane blog. After going round and round with Paypal, it has come to our attention that we must be stated as a Non-profit. In my mind we are but the proper paperwork must be in their possession. We will be working on getting this done but it is an expensive and lengthy process.

So for those of you who have asked where they can donate, please hang on. I am going to speak with my bank this week to figure out if there is something that can be done through them.

This past week has been a roller coaster of emotions. I was honored for the second time to attend a conference specifically geared towards Pediatric Palliative Care.

IPPC is the organization that puts on retreats across the country to train health care providers on how to change or make palliative care happen in their institutions. It was Phoenix Childrens Hospital's turn to show what palliative care could do and how important to us as families it is.

There were social workers, physicians, chaplains, child life specialists, nurses, nurse practioners, and many others among the participants. Also there were family members that were in attendance from different organizations such as PCH, Hospice of the Valley, MiSS Foundation, Ryan House, and many others. It was so nice to see the diversity from all the groups that attended.

I know this experience for the families was an emotional one. Many tears were shed during the sharing of our personal experiences with the care that our children have recieved. It was nice to have a voice in this conference and to confront the people that take care of our children. They were able to hear the bad things along with the good things. This is not always allowed or so embraced in a healthcare setting. At this retreat it was. You could see the hungar in their eyes towards us as family members, to hear our stories and experiences.

My hope for this conference is that it will shed light on the situations that these health care professionals face on a day to day basis. I hope that things will change as far as the care our children recieve. I hope that these professionals will imbrace not only the sick patient but the family that comes along with it. It seems to me that everyone that participated in this retreat wants to make that happen and I couldn't be happier.

Now what to do and where to begin with all this new found information at these institutions. Only time will tell. It will be baby steps but with all the eager faces that were there to make change, I am confident it will happen.

Caden's Tiger!

Caden came home yesterday full of excitement because he just couldn't wait to show me his drawing. "Look mom, it's a tiger!" He yelled. "I made it for my brother Zane.?" For a 5 year old I think he did pretty darn good as long as you ignore the fact that the tiger has five legs. :) Caden is such a handful but can be so sweet at times. Love that boy!

Magformers! That's what they are called. They are magnetic and can build anything one's heart desires. This is one of the gifts that I got for my boys. This year instead of the normal one photo christmas card we decided to do something a little different. Our Christmas card consists of 574 photos and they were arranged to create this video. This is called stop motion photography. This is my husband's first attempt at doing this type of photography and I think it came out very well. Yesterday was a very special day in our household. My youngest son Zane turned 4 years old. This is such a milestone for a child that was given a 2 year life span. We are so grateful to be able to spend another birthday with him and we hope for many more.

The Most Delicious Turkey Ever!

For the past 6 years we have made a turkey recipe that we had gotten off the Food Network Thanksgiving Special. The recipe is courtesy of Alton Brown and I must tell you that it is AMAZING. Since making this turkey 6 years ago we have been elected by the family to make the turkey every year.

It's just so tender and juicy and you can't go wrong with this recipe.

Besides cooking a fabulous turkey for the past 6 years we have also been having our Thanksgiving at a local Regional park. It's been great because our Thanksgiving has turned into a pot luck and nobody has to go home to a messy house. Plus there is a huge playground and hiking that keeps the kids busy. It's awesome!

I know this is late by a few days but I hope everyone had a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

He's Getting So Big!

The title in itself makes me sad. My baby will be 4 in less than 13 days. I can't believe how fast time has flown by. I wish that he would stay little forever because to be honest his care is going to become more difficult as he gets bigger.

This morning I changed his diaper as normal and didn't see anything wrong. Then this afternoon I changed it and found sand inside. It wasn't a whole lot but you could definetly tell that it was there. In the back of my mind I knew what this was but had to go on the internet to make sure. Sure enough it said that sand is a sign of kidney stones. This is the one thing that we have been trying to avoid but it seems as though it's happening. I immediately gave him more water and plan on giving him more for the next few days. I will be putting a call into the doctor if it continues because I don't want them to develop into actually stones.

The picture above is a photograph of my husband's new love. He has been working hard the past month to earn enough money to pay cash for this baby. To me it's crazy to see how much camera equipment can cost. I was blown away when he said he wanted a new camera since he has a Nikon D90 already. I guess he's really getting serious about his photography and you know what I think he should.

As many of you know, Zane has been put on the keto diet for seizure control. Since we have been on this diet we have decided to eliminate one of his many medications. The medication we chose is Topomax because it can be harsh on the kidneys while on the keto diet and it requires an extra medication to be taken along with it so that crystals don't build up in the kidneys.

Zane has been off the medication four at least four days now. I know it's going to take a little time to get completely out of his system but he seems to be doing well with the change. He is having at least 1 seizure almost everyday but they seem rather controlled. Controlled you may ask??? How can you call them controlled?? Let's just say he's not flopping around like he used to. We hope that this change will continue to be a positive move on our part and that this medication will not have to be put back in the daily schedule.

Now the question is: "What do we do with all these pills?" If we are so hopeful do we throw them out then or keep them just in case?

Button Buddies!

After some serious leakage from Zane's g-tube port I decided that something needed to be done. His little belly was turning red around the port and you could tell that the skin wanted to breakdown. We have tried wrapping gauze around it but it only stays good for a few hours.

After some intense searching and speaking to other parents, I learned about a lady that makes g-tube cloth wraps with velcro. Her site is called Button Buddies. The button buddies come in all kinds of different styles from leopard print to the dinosaur ones that Zane is wearing. She was quick with Zane's order and they immediately shipped out the day of his order. We received them in the mail today and we are hopeful that this will be the answer to his leaking problem. :)

The title says it all! It's been awhile since I last posted. I guess we have been very busy with the boys since they started school. All three of them our off to school this year and it has been such a wonderful break for this mama!

My husband and I started a new adventure in photography. You can check out our site at www.tregphotography.com. It has been fun to say the least and I must say he isn't bad. My husband is the one that takes the pictures but I work together with him for the ideas and editing. Right now we are getting prepared to do Christmas cards which should be fun. I'll be posting a few pics from those sessions as they come about.

This popsicle is so good. You would think it would taste weird because of the carrot juice but I gaurantee that the kids will love them!

A Start to A New Adventure!

Wow! It's been awhile since I last posted. In the last two months we have been very busy especially with Zane. As most of you know we have been fighting seizures on a daily basis and lately they have just gotten out of control. We tried raising his medication levels but it seemed to do nothing. The seizures had gotten so bad it seems as though we were using a rescue med everyday. This is something that we couldn't live with and we were tired of watching him suffer on a day to day basis. Something had to be done.

That something is the Keto diet. If you have never heard of this here is a quick overview on what it is.

The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet primarily used to treat difficult-to-control (refractory) epilepsy in children. The diet mimics aspects of starvation by forcing the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates. Normally, the carbohydrates contained in food are converted into glucose, which is then transported around the body and is particularly important in fuelling brain function. However, if there is very little carbohydrate in the diet, the liver converts fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies. The ketone bodies pass into the brain and replace glucose as an energy source. An elevated level of ketone bodies in the blood, a state known as ketosis, leads to a reduction in the frequency of epileptic seizures.

Since Zane is tube fed this was the route we wanted to try. So far he has been on the diet for almost two weeks. Within these two weeks we have seen three bad seizures. This is unheard of in our household. It seems to be working! It takes about 1 month to 3 to see the full effect. If it's working then we will start to wean his meds off. This is a big deal to us and we hope this will be the answer for him.

Paleo Diet!

At my gym they are holding a contest to see who can make the most improvement in 8 weeks. During this 8 week period you are eating Paleo style. If you don't know what Paleo is please google it. Basically there is no dairy, no grains, no artificial anything. If you can't pick it up and eat it then it's not Paleo.

I am almost done with my first week. I must say that it is very difficult. Everything is fruit, veggies, and protein. This diet totally changes the way you look at food. If you are interested in the diet here is a good link for recipes.

On Sunday we thought it would be a good idea to take the boys on a bike ride while we hiked in our local mountain park. We were having a great day until the boys decided that it would be fun to race down a hill full of rocks. Well I guess from the title you can guess what happened. First Logan crashed on the bottom of the hill and then Caden crashed because he didn't want to run into his brother. Caden busted his face on a rock right about his right eyebrow and had to be rushed to Urgent Care. For being only 4 he was a very tough cookie. He didn't cry on the way to Urgent Care and he didn't cry while getting his 5 stitches. Here is a picture of his new war wound.

Run for Ryan's House!

My family and I decided that we would participate in the 5k run/walk to benefit Ryan's House here in the valley. Ryan's house is a respite house designed for families who have children with life threatening illnesses and for those in need of hospice care. Since this is such an important aspect in our lives and deals with our family personally we couldn't say no. The race is this Saturday and my mom, Zane's nurse, and I will be walking. My husband will be running his first 5k! Go Bryan. If you have time and you live in the valley please come out and support a good cause or come and participate in the walk/run!

New Glasses!

My son Logan who is 7 got his first pair of glasses this week. He loves his glasses and I must say he looks pretty darn cute. His teacher was the one that was concerned about his vision since he kept squinting at the board or making comments on how he couldn't see far. So I took him into the eye doctor and sure enough he's near sighted. Here's a pic of him in his new glasses.

1 Mile Fun Run!

Last Saturday our boys ran 1 mile for the 1 Mile Fun Run that was hosted by Goodyear in Action. They had a great turnout and a lot of kids were pumped and ready to run. After the run they recieved a metal for all their hard work and a goody bag full of nutrional snacks and a pedometer. They also wore their Crossfit Fury shirts to represent our gym! Way to go boys!

Christmas All Year Round in Zane's Room!

We found one thing that will keep Zane occupied for hours. Can you guess what it is in this
picture?

You guessed it! Christmas Lights! He loves them. We found this out this past Christmas. If he was being crabby we would stick him in front of the Christmas tree and he would immediately turn into a joyful smiley boy. We decided that since he likes the lights so much that we would hang them in his room! It's been awesome watching him coo and smile over the lights. He sleeps with them on every night.

Salmon Tacos and some Paleo Recipes!

Since we have joined Crossfit Fury we have really taken a different approach to our diet. We have cut out almost all sugar and are eating lots and lots of vegetables and fruits. Protein is another item that we have been consuming. We have only been using grass fed beef in very lean quantities.

Yesterday for lunch we decided to make Salmon tacos. Since I had my first fish taco down in Mexico, I have fallen in love with them. They are so good! Here is the recipe for the salmon tacos.

My husband and I have also tried a few recipes from the Paleo diet. We are not doing this diet at all but thought that we would try a few new things. The recipes were actually delicious. Crossfit Fury

My husband and I decided to check out a gym that was recommended by a friend of mine. The name of the gym is called Crossfit Fury. I must say that this gym works your butt out. Not only do they tell you what to do the whole time your there, they also stand there and push you to continue with their suicide workouts. Back In School!

I have just started my second to last class for nursing school entrance. The class I am taking is Human Anatomy II. This class by no means is going to be easy. The teacher has already given us a ton of work and he doesn't seem very lenient on his schedule. I have a feeling this is going to be a tough semester unlike the cakewalk that we had last semester. I guess that's what I get for thinking that it would be. I have one more class which is Microbiology and I have to take an entrance exam before I can be put on the nursing school list. I already got my fingerprint card out the way so these are the last three things that I need to do. Wish me luck on this new adventure in my life. I know it will be worth it not only for me but for my youngest son Zane too.

He Loves It!

I don't think we could have found a better gift for him. He absolutely loves his hammock. This is how we found him yesterday after the nurse put him in it for some R & R. He looks so comfortable and he was snoring really loud. It can't get any better than that.

Being Lazy!

Whenever we travel without the kids we always bring them something home. While we were in Mexico we found a chair hammock for Zane. I absolutely had to have it. He loves laying in the hammocks down at the Blind Foundation so I thought he would love one here at home to. Bryan set up the hammock in his room so that way he can use it whenever he wants. The hammock can hold an adult so we are not concerned if the boys want to try it out. Here is a picture of Zane enjoying his new relaxation.

Robinul: The Wonder Drug!

Robinul is said to reduce secretions from the bodily organs and you know what it does just that. On Monday Zane saw his new pulmonologist at PCH and I do have to say I liked him very much. He has such a better bed side manner than his last doctor. During the appointment I voiced my concerns about Zane's non-stop secretions. I know that sounds gross but it's the truth. This boy can leak from every orifice on his face. I felt so bad for him because he had so much that he didn't know what to do with it all. Can you imagine having a runny/congested nose 24 hours a day since you were born. I needed to find help for him and I think I did.

We decided to put Zane on Robinul on Monday and since then he has been runny nose free. This is a big deal for him and us. I am still crossing my fingers though because maybe he's having a good week but I'm hoping it has a lot to do with the new med.

Today we saw his new ENT doctor. I like him also which is a good thing. He decided that he is going to clean Zane's ears out under anesthesia and during this do his hearing test. If he gets in there and the fluid seems excessive then he may put tubes in his ears. During this procedure he is also going remove Zane's Adenoids. The doctor did look at his tonsils but felt that they were in pretty good shape an that they wouldn't need to be removed. Surgery will be scheduled within the next couple of weeks. We are hoping this will do wonders for his congestion problem.

For the past few years we have done nothing for New Year's. Every year we keep saying that we are going to go out and never do. Well this year was different. We decided with a group of our friends that we were going to ring in the new year Mexico style. Some friends of Bryan and I own a house down in Puerto Penasco and they rent it out to whom ever is interested. The house is new and is located off the beaten path but near the beach. We had such a fantastic time in Mexico filled with fireworks (which we shot off ourselves), drinking, eating, shopping, and of course lounging on the beach. I couldn't have asked for a better mini vacation or a group of people to enjoy Mexico with. Here are some of our pictures from our trip.

Recently my husband and I took a 10 day excursion to Hawaii. How did we do this you may ask with three children. We didn't take the children. We have such wonderful family and friends that they were well cared for while we were gone. It was fabulous to get away just him and I. We needed the vacation. We visited the island of Oahu and Maui. I must tell you that it wasn't what we had expected Hawaii to be. In our heads we were thinking of tropical rainforests everywhere but that just wasn't the case. We stayed on Waikiki and almost the whole time I felt like I was in downtown LA or Japan. The other side of Oahu was beautiful and was more like what we were looking for. Maui was pretty much dry on one side but the other side was tropical rainforest. It was absolutely beautiful. If you ever get over to Maui you must do the Road to Hanna! Beautiful and breathtaking drive. Here are some of the pictures from our trip. I couldn't upload them all because there is to many. Sorry to my facebook friends because these are repeats.

My Husband's New Toy!

My husband has been dabbling in photography for the past year and I must say he is very good at it. All the pictures that I post seem to get a comment from at least someone saying how beautiful his pictures are. He has even gotten some of his pictures excepted onto stock photography websites. I tend to neglect my blog with his beautiful pictures because lately my life has been consumed with this rotten website called Facebook. I'm sure most if not all have been afflicted by it also.

He has now begun to take pictures of other families. He did his first informal photo shoot last Saturday for a friend of ours. I do have to tell you that a lot of the pictures turned out really cute. I will be asking this family if I may post some on my photography blog that I will be creating for his work. Right now we are doing "Pro Bono" work. Basically we are using our friends as guinea's. I'm sure they don't mind because they will get cute family portraits out of it for free.

Bryan's style is more carefree and flowing. He does not like the sit down and pose look. He likes to shoot the subjects in their daily lives rather than make them do cardboard cutout poses. He likes to capture the children playing or acting like themselves whether it be bratty or happy go lucky. He likes to capture the families doing the same things. He does do some posing but it's at the families request because they would like some sit down pictures.

Up above is the new toy that I got him for Christmas. I am not even going to mention how much this thing costs because everyone's jaw would drop. If you know me I am a bargain hunter and I did everything in my power not to pay full price. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. This was not a deal I could pass up and I knew he just had to have it. He has been talking about this lens for the past 6 months and now he doesn't have to talk about anymore besides to say that he loves it. This lens is a Nikon 70mm-200mm 2.8 lens. He is still trying to learn the ends and outs of it. I know he'll make something beautiful out of it and it will be worth every penny I spent.

Another Doctor Added To Our List!

Zane had his appointment at the audiology department last week and it didn't go as planned. I had hoped that we would be able to get in and out without a fuss and unfortunately that was not the case. As soon as the audiologist took one look in his ears she said he wouldn't pass the hearing test. I could just feel my heart sink at that very moment and yet I still had some hope. She went on to say that he has fluid on one ear and the other is compacted with wax. I know that sounds gross but the wax is so far in there that I can't get it out. This little finding leads us to the new doctor that will be added onto our list.

We are to schedule an appoinment with the ENT at Phoenix Children's Hospital. I think this will be a good thing because he will be able to clear his ears and also possibly help with his congestion and faucet running nose. We'll see.

As for school they decided that they didn't think it was fair to hold Zane up from getting the services he needs since we are technically trying to get the hearing situation taken care of. We had his IEP meeting on Monday and everything went well. I must say that when I walked into the meeting I was expecting doom and gloom. It actually went great and we got everything we asked for. As of February 1st my little chunkers will be a preschooler at:

FBC (Foundation For Blind Children)

This is very exciting for us. I absolutely did not want him in the district school and obviously I got my point across. Now I just have to get him registered and they have to figure out the whole nursing situation for him and then we'll be up and going.

First off, Zane's IEP went well. Almost all of his evaluations went as planned and it seems as though he may get to go to FBC. I couldn't put enough emphasis on how badly I didn't want him to go to the district schools. Hopefully I got my point across and our wish will be granted.

One evaluation didn't go as I hoped. Before a child is allowed to be put into a special education program they must have a hearing test done. We know and assume that Zane's hearing is fine. We are hoping that the test that they were trying to perform at the evaluation was wrong. The hearing test kept saying "REFER". So here begins our new path to see another doctor. Zane has an appointment with the audiologist tomorrow. We will get his hearing tested by a specialist to make sure that everything is fine there. We believe he can hear but it does concern me that it kept saying "REFER". We'll see I guess. If it's not ok then what's another thing right? It's just one more thing to add to the list.

IEP Evaluations

Yesterday was a day to rejoice yet I am sort of saddened by the IEP paperwork. For those that don't know what an IEP is, it is an Individual Education Plan. The IEP is a plan that specifies what the child and the parent want during school such as care, therapies and so on. My little Zane will be starting preschool in January. Since September we have started the process for his transition into this new prospect. So far it's been easy. Yesterday I must say was easy but it was sad because it was put on paper what he can and can not do. It was hard to see all the "no's" and all the "Non-applicable" that was stated. Then again it is good to have all the "no's" because then it raises his chances of getting into The Foundation for Blind Children. Next week we have his official meeting and that's when we'll find out whether he's going to district school or FBC. Please cross your fingers and hope that FBC is their choice.

Last weekend our family went for a drive to find some places to take some cool pictures. We ended up going really far out west to Arlington where we found a really old bridge. We all got out of the car and we let the boys go wild while Bryan snapped some pictures and I walked along with Zane. It was a nice and relaxing afternoon.

It's Pumpkin Carving Time!

A few days ago my husband picked up a pumpkin because the boys have been asking non-stop for one since September. He decided to wait to carve it until I came back from my trip to Florida. That was nice of him wasn't it! It was fun to watch the boys dig in and pull out all the pumpkin insides. My middle son Caden announced that he had "pumpkin blood" all over him. From sunday through wednesday I was in Florida for a palliative care conference. Zane's pediatrician asked me if I would be interested in being part of their palliative care team that is trying to get started here at Phoenix Children's Hospital. The palliative care team will provide care for patients and families with life limiting conditions. Items that we are trying to include with palliative care is a parent advisory board(which I hope to be president of), fundraisers, ethics on care, promotion, and many other things. We hope to get the program up and running soon but we all know that it is going to take time and effort not only from our team but also all the hospital staff.

The conference that was held in Clearwater, FL was by far one of the most important aspects of healthcare. I feel that I learned a lot and hope to bring these aspects back to my community so that I can make a difference in the way our care is given here in Arizona. My goal is to create a panel of parents that can give their imput so that doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff know how to be respectful towards the patients and their families. I know this is a large goal to fulfill but with time I know our team can make it a reality. As I go along on this journey I wll update and let everyone know how everything is going. Right now we are thinking of a name for our team and also a mission statement. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

For all of you that don't know my husband Bryan paints. He paints beautiful pictures that were accepted into a Scottsdale gallery for display. His next task is to submit his art to the Scottsdale Art Festival. This weekend he worked on his display which he had to have completed for deadline by tuesday October 13 for the festival that will be held in March. We are crossing our fingers that he gets accepted. There are thousands of artists that apply and spots are very limited. This will be a way for him to get his art out to at least 40,000 people. Cross your fingers everyone! Logan's First Soccer Game

The Boy Who Could Ride!

Today our four year old son came up to my husband and I and asked if we would take his training wheels off of his bike. Caden told us that he wanted to be a big boy like Logan and doesn't need his training wheels anymore. I must tell you that he has never been interested in riding his bike since we introduced him to the Razor scooter. His poor bike has sat on the side of the house for months without even a glance in it's direction. Bryan and I thought about it for a little while and decided that if he wanted them off then we would take them off. As soon as the training wheels came off he immediately jumped on the bike and was ready to go. We had to instruct him for a total of five minutes and he was off riding like he has been riding for years. I have never seen a kid pick up riding a bike that fast. It took Logan at least a few days and he was five years old not four. Here are a few pictures of Caden's first riding experience with no training wheels.

Well about a month ago I posted a post about how excited I was that I finally got the oxygen that I had been asking for. Don't get me wrong I am still excited over this since it is so difficult to get it in the first place. Now we are having a problem with getting this little machine:

This machine is called a pulse oximeter. This machine reads the oxygen in Zane's blood. Without this the nurse can not justify on when to give Zane the oxygen. Therefore she is unable to use the oxygen until the insurance finds a reason as to why we need this machine. "HELLO" We should not have gotten the oxygen if they will not approve the pulse ox. These two items go hand in hand. The insurance company is trying it's best to deny this machine but my nurse and doctor are fighting them. Wish us luck and cross your fingers that the insurance company will come to their idiotic senses.

A Love Hate Relationship

For me that is! I have decided to finally go back to school to get my degree done in nursing. Before Zane was born this was my plan. Once Zane was born those plans got put on the back burner and haven't been touched since. Since our lives had been completely turned upside down with his presence into this world, which I wouldn't change in a heartbeat, school was the last thing on my mind. I promised myself that when things got situated and everything calmed down I would go back. So here I go! I am going to be taking one class this semester, one next semester and then one in the summer. Unfortunately the three classes I have left are hard ones and can not be taken together. At least that's what the teachers and others have warned. So taking their advice it will set me back a little bit but it's not like I haven't waited two years as it is. I have these three classes and then the two year nursing program left. So wish me luck everyone! Human Anatomy here I come! :)

The other day Bryan and I took the boys for a drive to take some pictures. Ever since my husband got his new camera this has become a new favorite of ours. It's nice just to get out and be in the fresh air and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The boys also love being out in the middle of nowhere so they call it. We ended up driving out towards Buckeye and found a trail that took us to a extinct volcano. Who Gets Excited Over Oxygen?

I DO. I DO.

I have been waiting for quite awhile to obtain authorization to get oxygen at home for Zane. I had asked his neurologist about 6 months ago to order it since it was a good thing to have on hand for Zane's rough seizure patches. Well to say the least we have been waiting.

and waiting........

Finally last week I spoke to his pediatrician about getting some oxygen since the neurologist didn't seem to be moving along on the order. To my surprise I received a knock on my door the next day. Zane's oxygen had finally arrived. This may seem like no big deal to most but to us it's a needed necessity. Zane requires oxygen every time he goes into his seizure fits. His little body starts to turn blue because of labored breathing and I just have to stand back and watch it happen. Now I have oxygen! This will help with his low saturation during this rough time while I wait for the ambulance.

I thought this was funny that they actually have to post this on the machine. I guess this is for all the smoking oxygen requiring patients.

Our Community Waterpark!

Yesterday we took the boys to our community waterpark. The waterpark consists of a regular pool connected to a wading pool that has a jungle gym that the kids can climb on. Water squirts out from everywhere and big buckets pour water on their heads. On the other side of the wading pool is another pool for the two big twisty slides. One slide is enclosed and the other is open. I was really surprised to see that Logan went down both slides on his own. The boys had a blast at the park.

California Conference 2009

This past week my mom, Zane, and I spent Wednesday through Monday in Costa Mesa, CA for the 2nd Annual Microcephaly Conference. This was our first conference that we have attended for Zane's condition. Zane which most of you know has a rare brain malformation known as Lissencephaly. Along with the Lissencephaly he also has Microcephaly. This is the first year that the founders of Children With Microcephaly were including other brain abnormalities such as Lissencephaly and PMG. We met a lot of amazing parents and had such a great time. The word is that next year the conference is supposed to be in Arizona but we will see. Here are some pictures from our trip.

Zane passed out on my bed after a long day of traveling. This was the first night in our hotel room. We stayed at the Hilton in Costa Mesa. It was a pretty nice hotel.

The next day we took Zane to Newport Beach. We walked the pier and also took him down by the water to dip his toes in. Our friends Diana, Jeremy, Judy, and Tim were also there to enjoy the beach with us.

Loss Of First Tooth!

Today we had Caden's second birthday celebration with family and friends. I can't believe my little guy is 4. It seems like yesterday that I was changing his little bum and now he's only got a year left before he starts school. My how time flies!

It was a great day overall. The kids had a fantastic time swimming and playing on the trampoline. All of them got filled up with cake and candy which made things even more fun for the adults. Jaime's mom made an awesome cake for Caden that consisted of all of Caden's favorite things. Since we really didn't have a theme for the party this seemed like the next best thing. This cake consisted of all the things that Caden is obsessive about at the age of 4. Here are some pictures from the party.

Today Bryan and I and the kids went over to my parents house for a BBQ and swimming to celebrate Caden's birthday. My middle baby will be turning 4 on Tuesday. We did a mini party today and then his big party is on Saturday. What a lucky boy to have two parties. Today was also the first time Zane has gotten into the pool since the start of the season. He loved the water so much that he actually fell asleep. Here are some pictures from our day.

I came across a website where you can upload coupons to your grocery store card. It's very convenient because you don't have to take the stores coupons with you. For instance, if you have a Fry's savings card all you have to do is go to this site and look at the coupons and then upload them to your card. It's awesome. Here is the website.

All Done With Kindergarten!

Today was Logan's official last day of Kindergarten. Last night I was cleaning the kitchen and I could hear him crying in the other room. I asked him what was wrong and he told me that he was sad because he was going to miss his teacher. How cute is that! I let him know that he will see her once again once school started. He was excited after he found that out.

Since it was his last day, the school does a ceremony called "Stepping Up". This means that each grade is recognized on how well they did throughout the year and then passed on to the next grade. The kindergarteners were so cute. Here are a few pictures from the ceremony.

This past weekend I took the boys over to their grandparents house to get in a little swim action. They were in the water for about a half hour before complaining that it was to cold. To cold! What? Anyway they had a great time and Caden even stuck his head in the water which is a big first for him. Way to go little man!

Hello Everyone! Meet little Miss Molly! She has become the newest addition to the Treguboff household. Molly is a Rat Terrier and is almost two months old. She is about the size of my husband's hand. She is so tiny yet so cute. Here are a few pictures of Molly!

So I have decided to jump on the bandwagon and read a series of books that everyone has said is so good. I kept putting them off and I kept telling myself that I could not possibly get into this type of story. I mostly read murder/mystery type books. So from much convincing from some of my family members and friends I have decided to read the "Twilight" series. Right now I am on book number three and to my surprise I am enjoying them very much. I have been reading every chance that I get and I can't seem to put them down once I start. My poor, poor husband. I want to say "thank you" to all of you who have hounded me and persuaded me to give them a try.

I thought this was cute so of course I have to share. Logan who is 6 and in Kindergarten is learning all about money. He knows exactly what each coin/dollar is worth and what president in on them.

So instead of saying I have a penny and one dollar he says" I have 1 Abraham Lincoln and 1 George Washington. I think it's so funny because it's almost as though he wants to say " I have some Benjamins!" I'm waiting for that. I'm not sure what he'll come up with for the penny.

Camping at Christopher Creek!

This past weekend we took the boys camping at Christopher Creek along with my husband's Aunt and Uncle and their kids. Christopher Creek is about an hour and a half away from Phoenix. We have never been to Christopher Creek before and I must say it was a very good place to camp. Our camp site was in such a good location except for the fact that we almost got the truck stuck due to the turn off being to steep. We almost weren't able to get out and it took a lot of man power to figure out a way so that we didn't have to call a tow truck. In the end, after piling a lot of dirt and rocks we were able to get the truck out.

All the kids had the best time. I'm sort of glad that we were only there for two nights because toward the end of the second day all the kids started getting whiney. We made smores and did a lot of fishing. This was the first time the boys had been fishing and they loved it. They were so obcessed with the creek.

On the second day we took the kids up to the fish hatchery. They got to see all the trout up close. It was pretty neat to see all the fish in the different stages of life. Here are a few pictures from our trip this weekend.

Easter Day Fun!

This year the family decided to have our Easter on Saturday instead of Sunday. The reason why is because we could not rent a ramada on Sunday because all of them were taken. We decided that having Easter a day earlier didn't matter since everyone was in town and we could actually rent a ramada. We chose to have our Easter at Estrella Mountain Regional Park. This is one of the many times that we have rented a ramada in this park. We have found it easier to hold our family get togethers here instead of having it at one of our houses. Having it there allows the kids to run around and do as they please without breaking things and making messes. It's an awesome idea.

Our Easter consisted of a potluck, egg hunting, and playing games. Everyone had a great time and the food was outstanding. The kids had a blast with the egg hunt and since there was a little wind they were even able to fly kites. It was truly a great afternoon.
